Ferragamo Maillot and Birthday Surprise!

I absolutely adore this swimsuit, the old-ladyish floral pattern contrasted with the modern take on a traditional 50s maillot is just gorgeous. At almost $400 it is way too pricey for me but that doesn't mean I can't look for a something similar, in my price range. I am keeping my eye out!

In other news, for my birthday last week my boyfriend surprised me with the beautiful green Virginia Johnson shawl that was the subject of my very first post on this blog. It was an amazing birthday from beginning to end, and the shawl was really the icing on the cake!

I had been planning to keep this blog private--when you are living with someone you don't get to keep many secrets, and I wanted to do something that was totally self-generated without feeling any pressure to make "sense" to anyone. But when he showed me the scarf I yelped and hugged him and immediately went to the computer and showed him how the thing he gave me was the very first thing I Love-d!

He is certainly the best gift of all.

Sliver of Silver

Today was unseasonably cold in NYC, kind of depressing for the first day of June. I went into the Enoteca across the street from my office to pick up lunch and saw a girl at the bar with a tiny silver ring on her finger. I don't know if it was a wedding band, it was just really simple and very thin and as she was wearing a navy blue blazer and had long dark hair the silver really caught the light and seemed to light up her whole hand.

Now I am on a mission to find a slim silver ring that I will always wear on my right-hand ring finger.

I've always to own something of enough significance that I never take it off. I've tried necklaces before and even a watch, but I could never stock with it. A watch makes you always aware of the time and who wants that? I tried a slim necklace but I never felt like it belonged on my body. Now I'm thinking maybe it'll be this ring!
A slim sliver of silver can easily become a part of my hand and I won't take it off to shower, swim or sleep.

I was thinking that although there are a million and one things I'd like to own, what I'd like the most right now is good health! I have been fighting off a cold this past week or so and it seems to be lingering for quite a while. I passed it to my boyfriend just as I was getting better and now we are both fighting it off. I'm (reasonably) sure that it's not H1N1, which is still very much a threat here in NYC, but at the same time I'm feeling really run down and out of it and am tired of feeling that way. In the winter having a cold is a drag, but at least you can snuggle up inside with movies and tea and chicken noodle soup. In the spring it's really a drag cause all I want to do is enjoy the outside without feeling feverish and fatigued.

I image-searched "good health" so I would have a photo to accompany this post. Alongside a bunch of pictures of thin ladies meditating , and pictures of the food pyramid I found this little guy! Nothing says good health quite like a polar bear doing calisthenics. I'm hoping that before long, I'll be ready to join him.
